Kindness Counts

April 1st, 2009

Hey Boxers, we had so much fun creating and talking about our KINDNESS CHAINS that we thought we would bring the chain to the web!

Here is what we are asking you to do:

  1. Catch someone in the act of kindness.
  2. Recgonize them here on our blog.
  3. Use only their first names.

For example:  “ Ryan, way to go the extra mile by helping pick up papers after school. Talk about paying it forward; You ROCK!”

Share Your Experience!

December 3rd, 2008

We want to know what you think. Please respond without identifing students by name.
Have you ever been bullied?
If so, please share with us.
If you’ve been bullied how did you resolve it?
Did you talk to someone about it? A teacher? Or a counselor?
Was it verbal? Or physical?
Where did it occur?
At home, school, or in cyber space?

If your currently being bullied, see your counselor Mrs.Coop or Mr.Bixler ASAP.

Something to think about

May 20th, 2008

There was a young man walking down a deserted beach just before dawn. In the distance he saw a frail old man. As he approached the old man, he saw him picking up stranded starfish and throwing them back into the sea. The young man gazed in wonder as the old man again and again threw the small starfish from the sand to the water.  He asked, “Old man, why do you spend so much energy doing what seems to be a waste of time.”  The old man explained that the stranded starfish would die if left in the morning sun.  “But there must be thousands of beaches and millions of starfish!” exclaimed the young man. “How can you make any difference?”  The old man looked at the small starfish in his hand and as he threw it to the safety of the sea, he said, “It makes a difference to this one!”. –Author unknown

It’s the moment that makes the difference. It’s not flag-waving, march on, over efforting that changes things. It’s something that’s done in the moment, out of connecting with compassion that is remembered for all time. It’s fleeting. It’s there and then it’s not. And the only time you remember it is when you need it. - Mary Robinson Reynolds

Make A Difference

May 12th, 2008

Make A Difference started in Escobedo Middle School in 2008. This club started when our teacher Mrs. Dain taught us about bullying with videos, poems, and activities. It all started with the Blue Ribbon Video. We saw how much of an impact one act of kindness could have on one person. Anybody and everybody could change one person’s life with something simple.

Don’t get mad…Make A Difference!
